Jigsaw are now in a better position to offer advice to third parties
Tracy feels more competent to provide advice on standard after attending the OHSAS 18001 Lead Auditor training in Manchester.
What were your training objectives?
To enable me to formally carry out third part audits against the OHSAS 18001 standard and to register as an IRCA auditor
What learning did you take from the course?
I was able to learn to differentiate between being an auditor and a consultant, which are two very different styles and competencies.
Have you been able to apply anything since the course?
I currently have a client who are preparing for certification and since the course I have been able to advise on the standards more clearly and guide them in the right direction.
The course has given me the confidence to give more competent advice on the standard and offer support where gaps have been identified.
What have been the benefits for you and the business?
It is too early to say but for my business this will be a huge in terms of being able to offer an additional professional service to third parties and be confident that they are getting quality audits to the required standard.
How was the tutor?
The tutor was very knowledgeable and was able to provide practical examples throughout the course.
What was the venue like?
The facilities were good, although the room was a bit small and regulating the temperature was an issue. The refreshments during the day was excellent.
Any advice to delegates?
Definitely read the standard before the course and it is useful to have a little experience in health and safety as this puts practical elements into perspective. I was fortunate that I am an established experience health and safety practitioner and was able to relate to the examples given fairly easily.
Would you recommend Bywater?
Yes I would
