Quality Manager, Marian, has gained a further understanding on ISO 9001 to conduct audits internally for Like Technologies Ltd

Marian, who is the quality manager for Like Technologies Ltd recently attended our ISO 9001 Internal Auditor course in May at our Liverpool venue.

What were your training objectives?

I am not by trade a quality manager – but a few years ago I was appointed as the quality manager after the ‘then quality manager’ left unexpectedly. I was given the task of setting up ISO 9001 in our company as a new system and then when the new standard came out in 2016 I was in charge of the transition for my team.

After putting the ISO 9001 in place and my team conducting audits, I felt it would be beneficial for me to attend this training to assist with the audits and to gain a better understanding of the standard in more depth.

What learning did you take from the course?

The training helped me gain a further understanding of the standard using explanations and real life experiences to demonstrate how to use it in practice. The tutor offered relevant advice according to each delegate’s background to ensure that they would understand what was required.

Another big help for me was that the tutor helped me gain an understanding on how to apply this to smaller companies, such as my own.

Have you been able to apply anything since the course?

Yes! The main issue we had before I attended the course was that my MD was conducting most/all the audits. So now that I am trained to audit internally, I have now taken the audit schedule from her, and since the training I have conducted 6 audits over 5-6 weeks. This has been a huge benefit to us as a company.

How was the tutor?

The tutor was great and was very experienced. As a group we felt that we could have been given slightly more time to work through the tasks that were given to us, but overall we feel that we have learnt a lot from this training.

What was the venue like?

I attended the course in Liverpool, which is one of Bywater’s new 2018 venues, and it was great. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only thing I wished I had looked at was the parking before I attended the course, but other than that it was a great training venue.

Any advice to delegates?

As above I would recommend that you do your homework on the venue, especially parking, before travelling on the day.

Would you recommend Bywater?

Yes, definitely!
