Qasim has learned new techniques to audit the Nautical Institute training centres around the world.
Qasim, the accreditation manager for the Nautical Institute recently attended a ISO 9001 Lead Auditor course with Bywater at our Greenwich venue.
What were your training objectives?
I have recently changed job and taken over a new position as an Accreditation Manager and Lead Auditor for The Nautical Institute. I am in charge of a team who together we conduct audits for our 94 training centres worldwide. Each training centre is required to be audited once in every three years, which is quite a busy schedule for a small team.
Have you been able to apply anything since the course?
Since attending the course I have implemented new techniques for me and my team to use whilst conducting audits; such as checklists, audit plans, opening and closing meetings and questions to ask the auditee etc. This has been a good benefit to us as we are much more organised and understand how it should be done.
How was the tutor?
The tutor was very experienced and qualified. During the first couple of days it seemed like he was jumping around the training materials, but on the third day I understood why he was teaching us in this way.
He was very knowledgeable on the subject and offered advice on many questions that we all had. Also, extra time given after the session where needed.
What was the venue like?
The venue itself was good. However, the commute to the training is not much from the city but traffic caused my journey to be 1.5 hours each way. I would like to request Bywater organise the venue in Central London as it would reduce travel times for most delegates.
Would you recommend Bywater?
Yes. I would recommend this to my team to attend so they can become lead auditors as it has been really beneficial to me.
