This course has helped Newcastle University on their journey to gain ISO 45001 certification
Gary, the Health, Safety and Business Continuity Manager for Newcastle University, and his colleague have recently attended out ISO 45001 Lead Auditor training in Leeds.
What were your training objectives?
We had been looking at OHSAS 18001 training for some time and as the new standard (ISO 45001) was around the corner we waited until this was released.
We are looking to gain ISO 45001 certification and the first step we have taken is to train me and my colleague to use the audit skills Bywater provided to carry out a gap analysis before moving on to implementation of ISO 45001.
What learning did you take from the course?
The course was fab! I have been a health and safety professional for over 20 years and this course gave me a more detailed understanding of the ISO 45001 standard and the ISO audit approach. I have gained many new audit skills and brushed up on the ones I knew already.
Have you been able to apply anything since the course?
My colleague and I both attended the training course together, and since the training we have both started to audit against ISO 45001 and are starting to conduct a gap analysis between our current position and where we want to be.
How was the tutor?
The tutor was excellent.
What was the venue like?
Oulton Hall is a suitable training venue and it was a good, relaxing environment without distraction in a nice location.
Any advice to delegates?
I didn’t do too much prep for the course, and I would recommend to anyone who is thinking to attend the course is to make yourself familiar with the standard. Either by reading the standard or attend the 1-day introduction course beforehand.
Would you recommend Bywater?
Yes I would recommend Bywater to others and definitely for this excellent course. I couldn’t fault anything, it was intense and hard work but worth it.
